#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From the author of the multimillion-copy bestselling A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series and Five Survive comes a gripping mystery thriller following one teen’s search for the truth about her mother’s shocking disappearance—and even more shocking reappearance—during the filming of a true crime documentary.

Lights. Camera. Lies.

Eighteen-year-old Bel has lived her whole life in the shadow of her mom’s mysterious disappearance. Sixteen years ago, Rachel Price vanished and young Bel was the only witness, but she has no memory of it. Rachel is gone, long presumed dead, and Bel wishes everyone would just move on.
But the case is dredged up from the past when the Price family agrees to a true crime documentary. Bel can’t wait for filming to end, for life to go back to normal. And then the impossible happens. Rachel Price reappears, and life will never be normal again.
Rachel has an unbelievable story about what happened to her. Unbelievable, because Bel isn’t sure it’s real. If Rachel is lying, then where has she been all this time? And—could she be dangerous? With the cameras still rolling, Bel must uncover the truth about her mother, and find out why Rachel Price really came back from the dead . . .
From world-renowned author Holly Jackson comes a mind-blowing masterpiece about one girl’s search for the truth, and the terror in finding out who your family really is.

Surprised Face with Open Mouth“This book was a gift to me from one of my friends. Last night, I made the decision to read a chapter or two before bed. I accidentally read 30. I had to FORCE myself to stop, and even then, I was constantly thinking about it. This book was absolutely INSANE (that's a good thing). I was on the edge of my seat (or bed, I guess) the ENTIRE time, and putting it down was nearly impossible. As Ramsey would say, it was very "plotty, twisty." To be fair, mystery and crime novels aren't my usual genre, so maybe it would be predictable to someone who reads this stuff, but I was shocked at each revelation of new information. It was a Rollercoaster, to say the least. There is a lot of cussing, if that kind of thing bothers you. However, this book is just a gold mine. Bel is such a snarky icon, and I love her. (Some other characters I'm obsessed with are Carter and Ash. Carter is a queen and Ash is just perfect. Im not sure how else to describe him!! Who gave Jackson the right to write such amazing characters??) Overall, I LOVED this book, and I HIGHLY recommend it. If you read this book, I assure you, you will NOT be disappointed. I could write so much more, but it would just be too long!”

Surprised Face with Open Mouth“I couldn’t put this book down! Def reminded me of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder from this same author with the podcast element and main character trying to solve a mystery. I was giving major side eye to several characters not knowing who to trust.”
