Last Chance Books

By Kelsey Rodkey
Last Chance Books by Kelsey Rodkey digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

You’ve Got Mail meets Morgan Matson in this smart, banter-filled romcom with a bookish twist.

Nothing will stop Madeline Moore from taking over her family’s independent bookstore after college. Nothing, that is—until a chain bookstore called Prologue opens across the street and threatens to shut them down.

Madeline sets out to demolish the competition, but the guy who works over at Prologue seems intent on ruining her life. Not only is he taking her customers, he has the unbelievable audacity to be… extremely cute.

But that doesn’t matter. Jasper is the enemy and he will be destroyed. After all—all’s fair in love and (book) war.

Beaming Face with Smiling Eyes“Did I listen to this audiobook while running errands all day today? Yes, indeed. This was super cute and I loved the enemies to lovers trope. Also, I enjoyed the family dynamic. Of course Madeline loving a book store and trying to save it was truly what draw me to this book. Madeline’s friend Zelda being part of Booktube was a great thing to include too. Navigating the family dynamics and working on setting loose ends was good too. I loved how Jasper was Japanese ♥️ my only complain is that at the beginning I thought Madeline was in her mid twenties and then I found out she was only 17 years old which shows during the vineyard adventure but the characters does read older for most of the book. Can be due to being the older sister and having to grow with an absence mother but I doubt that’s what it was. Also which 17 year old is obsessed with orgasms? It made me extremely uncomfortable. I had to fast forward during those conversations because there is no way a teen would be talking about sex like that. I liked Madeline’s commitment to the library and the fact that she was part of a big book fandom.”
