For the Wolf

By Hannah Whitten
For the Wolf by Hannah Whitten digital book - Fable

Publisher Description

AN INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER AND TIKTOK SENSATION!

The first daughter is for the Throne.

The second daughter is for the Wolf.

An instant NYT bestseller and word-of-mouth sensation, this dark, romantic debut fantasy weaves the unforgettable tale of a young woman who must be sacrificed to the legendary Wolf of the Wood to save her kingdom. But not all legends are true, and the Wolf isn't the only danger lurking in the Wilderwood.

As the only Second Daughter born in centuries, Red has one purpose—to be sacrificed to the Wolf in the Wood in the hope he'll return the world's captured gods.

Red is almost relieved to go. Plagued by a dangerous power she can't control, at least she knows that in the Wilderwood, she can't hurt those she loves. Again.

But the legends lie. The Wolf is a man, not a monster. Her magic is a calling, not a curse. And if she doesn't learn how to use it, the monsters the gods have become will swallow the Wilderwood—and her world—whole.

"If you ever wished Beauty and the Beast had more eldritch forest monsters and political machinations, this is the romance for you."―Alix E. Harrow, author of The Ten Thousand Doors of January

"A brilliant dark fantasy debut!" —Jodi Picoult, NYT bestselling author

Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes“I quite literally DEVOURED this book in less than 2 days! Right off the bat, I got the vibes of One Dark Window × Beauty and the Beast with a Red Riding Hood theme, and I couldn't have loved it more!!!!! I was a BIG fan of the connections the characters have with the Wilderwood, as well as their 'found family' dynamic. The lore behind the curses and the royal families is also so interesting! And lastly, I loved how Eammon is CONSTANTLY described to smell as a library, coffee, and leaves! I seriously can't think of anything BETTER 😍🤤 I can't WAIT to see how this finishes up! *starts next book IMMEDIATELY*”

Slightly Smiling Face“This book was not what I was expecting at all in the best way possible! I thought that this was going to be a Little Red Riding Hood retelling, which it is in the sense that there is a “wolf” and the FMC is called Red and that is where the similarities end! The complex magic described in the Wilderwood is unique and I loved the relationship that developed between Eammon and Red and that this wasn’t the primary focus of the story. The focus of the story was on the relationship between Red and her Sister and them both so desperate to save one another they would sacrifice anything. The story explores religious extremism in a very subtle way and makes you think about things from a different perspective. This book was a very unexpected surprise and I loved it.”
