What is “Midnights” about?

Swift is famous for her meticulous clues preceding an album release. Whether it's rearranging the letters of all her song titles for fans to decode or creating four different album covers that connect to become a clock, there is no shortage of hints and riddles when it comes to Swift’s Instagram post announcements.

“This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams”

The corresponding album image shows Swift sitting down in a dimly lit room with her head bent into her hand. This solemn photo caused fans to speculate that "Midnights" would be one of Swift’s more emotional albums.Explore Taylor Swift’s TikTok here.

What's a good book to read with Anti-Hero?

Taylor's "Anti-Hero" track is a fan-favorite, and we recommend reading "Beautiful World, Where Are You" by Irish novelist Sally Rooney. The book follows a group of friends as they struggle with relationships, sex, and the world around them. They desire each other, they delude each other, they get together, they break apart. They have sex, they worry about sex, they worry about their friendships and the world they live in. Here's a lyric from Anti-Hero:

"I have this thing where I get older but just never wiser / Midnights become my afternoons / When my depression works the graveyard shift / All of the people I’ve ghosted stand there in the room / I should not be left to my own devices, they come with prices and vices, /I end up in crisis."

When did Taylor Swift's new album come out?

Taylor Swift shocked the world at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards earlier this month with a surprise announcement of a new album coming soon. Despite having just rerecorded her 2012 album, Red, earlier this year, along with releasing sister albums Folklore and Evermore, Taylor is back with a new sound. Midnights, her tenth studio album, was released on Oct 22, 2022.

What do we know about Taylor Swift’s new album?

Midnight has thirteen tracks (and OG fans will know the significance of her lucky number). Taylor began dropping hints and easter eggs about her new music in a TikTok she called “Midnight Mayhem With Me,” where she announced the title of one of her tracks. With a gold lottery cage behind her, Taylor drew the first ball from the cage to pick out number thirteen (coincidence?), and then proceeded to answer a red rotary dial phone and announced the thirteenth track is called “Masterminds.”
